Fans can download and/or stream the full recording HERE.
“It’s kind of a fun song… about realizing that the bad situation you’re going through just might not be all your fault after all, and it’s time to move on!” says Hale of the new release.
“So Lonesome So Long” was penned by renowned songwriters Tim Stafford and Bobby Starnes. The track blends traditional Bluegrass instrumentation with relatable, reflective lyrics that capture the emotional journey of moving past life’s hardships. Featuring an impressive lineup of musicians, the single includes Hale on lead vocals and guitar, Chris Davis on mandolin, Kameron Keller on bass, Jason Davis on banjo and Nathan Altizer on fiddle, with harmony vocals by Hale and Darrell Webb. The release follows Hale’s previous single from last fall, “If Something Should Happen,” a reimagined take on the famous Daryl Worley hit, recorded with his band Wildfire. His last solo release, “What People Think of Me Is None of My Business,” dropped in the summer of 2024 and was met with praise from Bluegrass fans and critics alike.
With a career spanning decades, Robert has cemented his place as a leading figure in the Bluegrass world. Raised in Jolo, West Virginia, he began performing at the age of nine alongside his father, Clayton Hale, whose band played regularly on WOAY television in the 1970s. A few years later, he was invited to perform at the Grand Ole Opry as a guest of the iconic Bill Monroe. Over the years, Hale has been a key member of several critically acclaimed bands, including JD Crowe, Eddie Adcock, LiveWire, the Allstars of Bluegrass and currently Wildfire. His exceptional musicianship has even caught the attention of Country icon Dolly Parton, who invited him to collaborate on two of her albums.
