The song stays true to the band’s signature, genre-bending sound, blending hard-driving instrumentation with emotive storytelling. Now available on all digital and streaming platforms, the track showcases the group’s edgy style, further solidifying their place as one of today’s most exciting acts in Bluegrass.
Written by acclaimed songwriter Rick Lang and Jon Goldfine of the Henhouse Prowlers, “Lonely As It Gets” is a hard-driving bluegrass blend of heartache, loneliness and solitude. Andrew Crawford’s stirring lead vocal is bolstered by an all-star lineup of musicians, including founding member Steve Wilson (banjo, harmony vocals), Jaime Carter (bass, harmony vocals), Adam Bachman (resonator guitar) and guest Darren Nicholson (mandolin). It follows the success of lead single “Black Wedding Dress” with lead vocals from member Brandi Colt, and the chart-topping anthem “If You Don’t Climb the Mountain,” which has become one of Wilson Banjo Co.’s biggest hits to date. The latter has spent the last four weeks in the Top 5 on the Roots Music Report Top 50 Bluegrass and Contemporary Bluegrass Song Charts and has also proven to be a major hit on SiriusXM’s Bluegrass Junction.
