Nashville, Tenn. – Bluegrass studio ensemble Lord of the Strings has unveiled their latest single, “Will You Miss Me When I’m Gone,” available now on all digital and streaming platforms (listen HERE). The group is made up of Tony Wray, Tim Crouch and Dennis Parker, while once again showcasing their world-class musicianship and heartfelt interpretation of traditional Bluegrass classics with this new release.
“‘Will You Miss Me When I’m Gone’ is the age-old question we all have,” says Tony Wray. “Me and the guys have always loved this song, and nobody ever did it better than Keith Whitley and Ralph Stanley. With this version, we wanted to pay homage to them, and we truly do miss them.”
Originally released by The Carter Family in the late 1920s, “Will You Miss Me When I’m Gone” has long been a staple in the Bluegrass canon, performed by icons such as Dr. Ralph Stanley / The Stanley Brothers, Keith Whitley, and many more. Lord of the Strings slows the pace slightly, leaning into a mid-tempo groove that highlights the song’s emotional weight. The new version features heartfelt lead vocals from Dennis Parker, fiddle work by Tim Crouch, and arranging and all other instrumentation by Tony Wray. This track also serves as the follow-up to their acclaimed singles “Stone by Stone” and “Doin’ My Time,” further solidifying the band’s reputation for breathing new life into timeless songs.
Formed by a group of seasoned musicians with decades of collective experience, Lord of the Strings has become a standout studio project in the Bluegrass community. With Tony Wray actively touring with Dale Ann Bradley and The Dillards, Dennis Parker performing for years with Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, and Tim Crouch working as one of Nashville’s most sought-after session players, the ensemble continues to find time to collaborate and record together.
Fans can expect even more from Lord of the Strings in the coming months, as the band continues to craft new recordings and expand on their dynamic sound. Stay tuned for additional announcements, releases, and surprises as they carry forward their mission of honoring the past while shaping the future of Bluegrass.
