Bradley “Humbled and Thankful” for the Honor

Dale Ann Bradley’s album, “Pocketful of Keys,” tops Roots Music Report’s Bluegrass Chart the week of August 6. It is her first album with Pinecastle Records after re-joining the label last year.

“I am so humbled, and very happy to have the new album showing on the Roots Music Report’s Chart,” Bradley says. “Thanks to everyone for playing, buying and listening to ‘Pocket Full Of Keys.”

Bradley is also the cover artist in this month’s “Bluegrass Unlimited” magazine. The story, written by Bill Conger, includes the singer talking about who inspired her to produce this album and writing and choosing songs for the CD. She also discusses her love for all genres of music, and the fact that she grew up in a church that didn’t allow music. That didn’t deter the Female Vocalist of the Year (for both the international Bluegrass Music Association and Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music for America) from loving music and pursuing it as a career!

Bradley’s first single from the album, “’Til I Hear It From You,” continues to get airplay across the bluegrass and acoustic music stations. It is a cover of The Gin Blossoms 1990’s hit, which comes as no surprise to those who know the songstress. Bradley has built a reputation on finding songs from other genres and making them her own, including Tom Petty’s “Won’t Back Down,” Fleetwood Mac’s “Over My Head,” Seals & Croft’s “Summer Breeze” and U2’s “Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.”

Bradley has been performing her tunes around the world this summer, including her album release party at The Station Inn in Nashville, the 49th annual Bill Monroe Bean Blossom (Indiana) Bluegrass Festival and The Kentucky Music Hall of Fame in Renfro Valley. She just returned from the LaRoche Bluegrass Festival in The French Alps. Back in the U.S., Bradley has a list of dates including the Berea Concert Series on August 21; Bluegrass on Main Street in Newark, Ohio on August 29; and the Delaware Valley Bluegrass Jamboree in Woodstown, N.J. on September 6. The singer has a European Tour with Steve Gulley scheduled for October 28-November 10, including the Old Time Country Festival in Switzerland on October 31. Other stops include Germany, Switzerland and the Czech Republic.

Bradley has received wonderful reviews on “Pocket Full of Keys.” Mark Papadatos of digitaljournal.com says “…Dale Ann Bradley is a musical treasure and this new album speaks volumes of her talent as a singer, songwriter and song stylist. She has done it again: released a fantastic CD with no filler tracks…”

A review from Donald Teplyske’s blog, Fervor Coulee Bluegrass, in “Country Standard Time” praises, “Bradley’s voice is one of the most pure things to encounter within the bluegrass world, and it is shown to perfection throughout this heart-engaging set. One of the album’s highlights is surely a recent Ruby Lovett and Susan (Taylor) Pie song, “Hard Lesson Road,” performed as a duet with Mr. Americana, Jim Lauderdale. While the song is played on bluegrass instruments, it has more of a widespread country feel to it, fitting nonetheless perfectly within its bluegrass setting.”
