Nashville, Tenn. – It’s been a monumental year for Bluegrass band Williamson Branch, and the group has even more reason to celebrate. The International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) just held their annual Momentum Awards, and lead singer Melody Williamson was the recipient of the “Vocalist of the Year”award. The recognition marks the first IBMA win for the rising group. Williamson Branch is also set to take the stage later tonight as Official IBMA Showcase Artists, where they’ll be performing a special set.
“First, thank you to the Lord for my talents and opportunities,” exclaimed an excited Melody Williamson. “Thank you Mom and Dad, Kadence, Carolina, Anthony and Geoffrey. Finally, thank you to Pinecastle Records and the IBMA for this award. I’m honored to be included in such an amazing group of singers!”
It’s been a huge year for the band, whose overall exposure has increased exponentially. As a result of touring being cancelled due the COVID-19 outbreak, the group focused their efforts on growing their social media presence. Their unique approach and dedication to creating heartfelt and quality content has resulted in a massive increase in their total following. Currently, the band has over 315K followers on Facebook, surpassing millions of views, including an epic performance of “I’ll Fly Away” that has been seen over 14 million times.
The win caps off what has been a successful year, with WB riding high off of their 2019 album Classy. Sassy. Bluegrassy. The project’s lead single “Blue Moon Over Texas” has spent a total of SEVEN weeks at No. 1 on Roots Music Report’s ‘Contemporary Bluegrass Song Chart’ to date. The band shot a special full-length video for the David Stewart written track, which was shot on-location with a breathtaking view. It features the IBMA winner singing lead vocals.
