Nashville, Tenn. – Multi-instrumentalist Troy Engle is excited for the release of his brand new single, “Outrun the Pain.” The original song will be part of the Pennsylvania native’s forthcoming full-length project Back Home, coming in 2024 via Pinecastle Records. Music enthusiasts can download and/or stream the full track HERE.

“I wrote the first version of ‘Outrun The Pain’ about 20 years ago. I was looking for that chugging train beat kind of rhythm, and came up with the idea of trying to outrun your heartbreak,” explains Engle. “I liked the feel, but something was missing, and I did what any good bluegrass writer would do, and I added a verse about a train!”

He adds, “I had fun recording it, since it’s a hard-driving bluegrass song in the key of B, and I hope listeners will have as much fun listening to it as I did recording it. I’ve never had to ‘Outrun The Pain’ of a lost love, but if I did, I think taking a fast train would be a good place to start!”

Troy Engle is the sole writer on the song, and also showcases his world-class talents by performing every instrument heard on the recording. It’s a theme that is also maintained from the previous single “Back Home,” released earlier this year as the first taste of new music. In addition to playing acoustic guitar, mandolin, banjo, fiddle, upright bass and drums, Engle also performs both lead and harmony vocals throughout. With the fourth quarter now in full swing, the singer/songwriter is also planning on releasing a holiday tune called “Frosty Pines.”

Listeners can also hear the inspiration on all the new music that has been gathered over the years while the singer has shared the stage with an array of different fan-favorites like Patty Loveless, The Isaacs, Larry Sparks, Buddy Jewell, Leon Russell and more. His compositions have also been featured on top TV shows like The Voice, American Pickers, Duck Dynasty, and Pawn Stars.
