Latest Single From Skin and Bone Brings Pure Bluegrass Grit and Down-Home Storytelling

Nashville, Tenn. – Tidalwave Road continues the momentum behind their acclaimed Skin and Bone album with the release of the latest single, “This Ol’ Place Is Home To Me.” Written by hit songwriter David Stewart, the song is straight-ahead Bluegrass, combining the Kentucky group’s signature grit with a radio-ready sound. Anchored by down-home lyrics and a powerful sense of nostalgia, “This Ol’ Place Is Home To Me” is a fitting showcase of the band’s unmistakable edge. Fans can download and/or stream the full recording on all digital and streaming platforms HERE.

“This song took us back to a simpler time of our childhood when we were running around in the hollers of Kentucky playing with our cousins. Our doors were always unlocked and we always had the yard full of good dogs,” says Tidalwave Road’s Robert Sulfridge. “Our homes were old and passed down through several generations, but they were still strong and felt safe. Musically, it reminded us of a Terry Baucom and Wyatt Rice song. So we were very grateful to take this to the studio and put our spin on it. As usual, Steve Wilson pulled the best out of us on this track!! We hope you all enjoy it as much as we do.”

“This Ol’ Place Is Home To Me” taps into the comfort of home, family and memories of growing up, pairing David Stewart’s timeless songwriting with Tidalwave Road’s hard-driving approach. The result is an edgy recording that is firmly rooted in Bluegrass, which has become a defining part of the band’s sound. The track follows the charting success of “Low Down & Lonesome” and “Not Ok, My Brother,” both of which made an impact at both terrestrial and satellite radio. Instrumental credits include Ben Parker (lead vocals, banjo), Carlie Parker (mandolin, harmony vocals), Daniel Parker (bass), Robert Sulfridge (guitar) and Steve Wilson (producer). The latest single also caught the attention of Stewart’s friends Robert Taylor, who starred in the hit series Longmire, and fellow actor John Bishop. The two recorded a video discussing the new recording, their friendship with Stewart and their connection to the Wyoming native (watch HERE).

“The first time I heard Tidalwave Road, I was drawn to their unique sound. I knew that I had a song that would be perfect for them,” says David Stewart. “I sent Robert my demo of ‘This Ol’ Place Is Home To Me.’ When I heard the band’s rendition of the song, I was blown away at how great it turned out. I believe Tidalwave Road has got a big ol’ hit with this song, and I am so excited for the fans to hear it.”

With Skin and Bone, Tidalwave Road has firmly established themselves as a band with something to say and a sound all its own. The project has spent several weeks in the Top Five of the Roots Music Report Contemporary Bluegrass Album Chart, building on the momentum surrounding the group since its release. Critics have taken notice, too. Indie Pulse Magazine praised the collection as “remarkably assured,” adding that Tidalwave Road has emerged as “a fully realized band—one capable of crafting songs with muscle, melody, and emotional clarity.” Vents Magazine called the group “one of the most exciting acts” in modern Bluegrass, while Take Effect praised their “razor sharp playing” and ability to deliver both ballads and high-energy performances. Together, the response reflects a band hitting its stride, with Tidalwave Road continuing to build momentum and attract attention well beyond its Kentucky roots.
