Nashville, Tenn. – The wait is finally over as Billy Gilman releases his very first ever Bluegrass single, “Roller Coaster.” It’s the first taste of what’s to come from the multi-platinum recording artist’s upcoming full-length project. Gilman initially rose to fame following the release of his critically-acclaimed debut Country project One Voice, and was more recently the runner-up on NBC’s The Voice. Fans can download/stream “Roller Coaster” HERE.

“When I first learned that my first single as a Bluegrass artist would be the title-track of my upcoming album, I could not have been more excited,” said Gilman. “Roller Coaster is a roll the windows down and turn the volume up type of song. Anyone who has been in any kind of serious relationship knows that loving someone has its ups and downs and can feel like a roller coaster ride at times. I think people will find themselves in the song as well as find themselves singing along the second time they hear it! Couldn’t be more proud that this is your first look into what I’ve been creating!”

The song premiered exclusively with People, who also did an in-depth interview about the inspiration behind the project. The cut was co-written by Gilman alongside Dan Murph and Philip Douglas. It showcases a more traditional Bluegrass sound, while offering a modern approach which helps offer a slight glimpse of what’s to come. It’s a wild ride from start to finish, with lyrics that center around the twists and turns of a relationship, metaphorically describing a roller coaster. The official video was shot in scenic Bowling Green, Kentucky at the Beech Bend Amusement Park with a clever one-take concept (watch it HERE).

Success started at a young age for Gilman with the meteoric rise of his debut single “One Voice” in 2000. It would eventually spawn sales exceeding TEN million units, lead to a Grammy nomination, and break the record for the youngest artist to hit No. 1 on Billboard’s “Top Country Album Chart.” Throughout the duration of his career, Bluegrass has always been a passion for the Rhode Island native. Growing up, he would sit around and listen to the genre with his grandparents, knowing one day he wanted to record a Bluegrass project. The upcoming Roller Coaster collection marks Gilman’s first full-length release after coming in second place on season 11 of The Voice in late 2016. The future is looking very bright for the singer/songwriter, who has plenty more surprises in store throughout 2023.
