Newton & Thomas are proud to announce the new single release, “Great American Heroes,” that recently made its radio debut on Nashville’s WSM Radio 650 AM Coffee, Country and Cody show. This inspirational and patriotic new tune was written by the award-winning songwriter, Mark “Brink” Brinkman. All proceeds from the sale of the song will benefit the American Security Council Foundation – a non-profit organization promoting the Strategy of Peace Through Strength.
Pinecastle Records has made it available for purchase at iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby and to radio stations at AirPlayDirect.
“On behalf of myself, Steve Thomas, and Mark Brinkman, I can say we are all truly honored that the American Security Council Foundation will use this as their signature song to help raise awareness to their wonderful cause,” said Mark Newton.
Brinkman shared his thoughts on writing “Great American Heroes” saying, “As my son, Zac, was joining the USAF I began thinking about ‘heroes’ and the moral fabric of our nation today. I wanted to write a song to make a statement and honor the ‘real’ heroes in our lives. The dad that works double shifts so that his kids might go to college and have a better life than he did….the mom that keeps the family together, sacrifices personal gain for the benefits of her children…the teacher that can shape the life of a child and inspire them on to a lifetime of learning and contribution to society…and the men and women who put their lives on the line every day for our freedom. These are the ‘real’ heroes that we need to be lifting up! I hope the song helps to redefine the word ‘hero’ and focus on the people with hero qualities – sacrifice, selfless, caring, courage, giving, love, fearless, etc.”
Newton & Thomas will perform “Great American Heroes” during the upcoming American Security Council Foundation (ASCF) benefit concert featuring The Band Perry, along with JT Hodges. This highly anticipated event will take place Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Historic Dodgertown Holman Stadium in Vero Beach, Fla. The festival gates will open at 3:00 PM with various activities and exhibits., “The festival will raise funds for The US NAVY UDT/SEAL Trident House and the ASCF Scholarship Fund that provides scholarships to the children of Active Duty Military, Veterans, Law Enforcement and First Responders,” said ASCF Director of Operations Gary James.
