Band Makes Announcement During Appearance on SiriusXM’s Bluegrass Junction

Nashville, Tenn. – Since the release of their debut album Back To The Country, Merle Monroe has turned many heads. With their Merle Haggard and Bill Monroe inspired sound, that influence took full-effect with each track. The band is excited to announce their next single, “Whippoorwill,” which they revealed during an appearance earlier this month on SiriusXM’s Bluegrass Junction. The group also has reason to celebrate as their project just hit No. 1 on Roots Music Report’s Bluegrass Albums chart, marking their first trip into the top spot.

“We had almost finished the record and we needed a couple more traditional sounding bluegrass songs,” Merle Monroe’s Tim Raybon revealed on-air. He told the story about how he wrote the track while mowing one day. While cutting the grass, he kept taking breaks as more and more lines came to him, and eventually it reached its finished form.

During their appearance with SiriusXM’s Kyle Cantrell, founding members Tim Raybon and Daniel Grindstaff were also joined by newest Merle Monroe member Eli Johnston. Nothing was off limits, as the group chatted about the latest critically-acclaimed project, which has put the newly formed band on the map. Riding high off of previous singles including the No. 1 hit “Movin’ On” and lead single “This Town,” they’re keeping the momentum rolling. The newest single, “Whippoorwill” places a spotlight on Raybon’s songwriting, with the ACM-nominated artist penning the track by himself.

As the year unwinds, the chart-topping band has plenty more surprises in-store. Fans can download and stream the full record HERE.
