Nashville, Tenn. – Acclaimed Bluegrass artist Liam Purcell just released his brand new single, “Soldier’s Heart,” out now on all digital and streaming platforms via Pinecastle Records (listen HERE). A powerful and uplifting recording, the song blends modern Bluegrass energy with heartfelt storytelling, delivering a moving tribute wrapped in the signature sound fans have come to expect from Purcell and his band Cane Mill Road.
“I got the hook for ‘Soldier’s Heart’ from an old bomber jacket that was my Grandfather’s,” shares Purcell. “He served overseas in the Air Force, but never talked about his time there very much. Unfortunately, he lost his battle with cancer while I was in my teens, and I still miss him every day. My Grandma gave me several of his things, including this jacket, which was inscribed with the words, ‘When I die I’ll go to Heaven, for I’ve already spent my time in Hell.’ It inspired me to write the rest of this song with him in mind, as well as the many veterans and active military members across the globe.”
Written solely by Purcell, “Soldier’s Heart” is an upbeat Bluegrass anthem that balances gratitude with forward momentum, honoring sacrifice while celebrating resilience and strength. It’s the latest offering from the band’s upcoming album, which they’re currently working on. Alongside last year’s lead single “Nothing Like Trouble,” which offered the first glimpse of what’s ahead, “Soldier’s Heart” continues to showcase Purcell’s evolving songwriting and the band’s dynamic, modern approach to Bluegrass.
At the center of it all is Liam Purcell, backed by his high-powered band Cane Mill Road, featuring Zack Vickers, Devin Jones, Ari Silver and Teddy Kent. Together, the group delivers a high-energy, tightly woven sound, with each member operating at the top of their game. Known for their electrifying live performances, the band seamlessly blends technical excellence with emotional depth, creating a show that resonates with both traditionalists and new audiences alike.
