Nashville, Tenn. – Discover the authentic essence and future of Bluegrass music with Liam Purcell & Cane Mill Road‘s brand new single, “Homesick For Virginia.” Upon hearing the tune, it’s instantly clear why they were awarded IBMA’s “Momentum Band Of The Year” and also dubbed “the future of Bluegrass” by No Depression. The latest offering is part of the group’s forthcoming Pinecastle Records project Yellow Line, coming later this year. Fans can download and/or stream the new release HERE.

“This song (penned by Colton Kerchner) is a story of misadventure and longing for home. Though the song is straightforward and wrapped in a 3/4 bluegrass power waltz, I felt like a lot of folks could relate to the message behind it,” explains Liam Purcell. “Being young 20-something musicians out there on the road, home is always on our minds along with our friends and family who we frequently miss. This is one of the more traditional tunes on the album, and I thought the guys really knocked it out of the park with the feel of that old Stanley-Inspired sound.”

“Homesick For Virginia” is more than a song; it is a Bluegrass anthem that resonates with the longing for home and family. It’s a compelling, hard-driving tune that showcases the lead vocals of the track’s songwriter and Appalachian State University grad Colton Kerchner, complemented by Berklee College of Music senior Liam Purcell‘s harmonious mandolin and vocals. The melody is further enriched by Appalachian State University graduate Rob McCormac‘s captivating guitar play, Jacob Smith‘s robust bass, and Berklee College of Music graduate Ella Jordan’s electrifying fiddle. Don’t miss out on this musical masterpiece, it promises a journey that will leave listeners yearning for more.

The new release follows the project’s lead single, “Crooked As You Go,” which came out last fall. It turned into a runaway success, securing significant airplay on both terrestrial radio and SiriusXM. Bluegrass prodigy Purcell took lead vocals throughout the recording. The North Carolina native has turned several heads over the years, especially in 2022 when he swept the Rockygrass Instrumental Championships by becoming the first person to win in the guitar, mandolin and banjo categories all in the same year.
