The first single recording from a brand new band, Flashback has been released to radio. The song, “Foxhounds and Fiddles,” is now available to radio on Airplay Direct. Flashback is a group of four fantastic musicians who were members of J.D. Crowe’s band in the mid 1990’s. The band is comprised of Richard Bennet, Curt Chapman, Don Rigsby, and Phil Leadbetter. They reunited in 2015 and played tour dates with J.D. Crowe, who came out of retirement for a short time, and now they continue on while recording a new self-titled album to be released on Pinecastle Records in 2017.
Richard Bennet is a prolific singer/songwriter and talented flatpicking guitarist. Bennet is known not only for his contributions with various bands but also for a number of solo albums featuring his lauded vocals and picking.
Bassist, Curt Chapman, played in J.D. Crowe’s The new South for 13 years before joining other New South alums in the band Wildfire, who have recorded four albums.
Don Rigsby, is an award winning musician playing mandolin, fiddle, and singing lead and tenor vocals for Flashback. He has toured, recorded, and produced with a long list of bluegrass favorites as well as recording numerous solo albums.
Phil Leadbetter has been playing resonator guitar since the age of 12. Since then he has recorded on Grammy nominated albums, been a member of J.D. Crowe’s The New South, Wildfire, Grasstowne, The Whites, and The Dale Ann Bradley Band. He has recorded two solo albums for Pinecastle Records and is a two time IBMA “Dobro Player of the Year” winner.
