Nashville, Tenn. – Dale Ann Bradley is charging forward with her latest album release, Things She Couldn’t Get Over. The five-time IBMA “Female Vocalist of the Year” winner is excited to announce that the upbeat anthem “Living on the Edge” will serve as the second official radio single from the record. The tune was co-written by Bradley alongside Aaron Bibelhauser. The announcement comes on the heels of recent features in 2021 in publications like American Songwriter, NPR Medium, Thrive Global, Sounds Like Nashville, The Bluegrass Situation and more.
“I would always feel like I needed to do what they wanted rather than what I felt like I ought to do [because of] the repercussions from not doing what people want you to do. You could get ostracized and you were threatened with that all the time,” explains Dale Ann of what inspired the song’s defiant lyrics. “So I’m like, ‘Go ahead make your angry pledge, get mad, push me out here on the ledge because buddy, I’m getting used to this. Just knock me down or leave me alone. Hit me with your best shot.’ Everybody makes mistakes and nobody has the right to push anybody or judge anybody so that’s kind of what it is about.”
“Living on the Edge” showcases another side from the record. Serving as track number one from the project, it’s the perfect way to kick off the album and show listeners what to expect. Upon the release of the Top Ten Billboard charting Things She Couldn’t Get Over, the recording began to instantly get airplay, already peaking at No. 8 on Roots Music Report’s Contemporary Bluegrass Song Chart. The single has been called “soothing yet liberating” by Digital Journal, Tahoe Onstage says that “Wariness peeks through the utmost confidence in Bradley’s voice in the first song,” Take Effect Reviews calls it “extremely melodic and harmonic,” and Roots Music Report says “It’s always nice to hear some of her original material, and she doesn’t disappoint.”
The track is the follow-up to the No. 1 lead single, “Falling Down.” Written by Ashby Frank, the song was the first taste of the new record. The project also features special guests Michael Cleveland, Jim Hurst, Ronnie Bowman, Aaron Bibelhauser and Frank, plus Dale Ann’s touring band Moon Runner (Matt Leadbetter, Kim Fox, Ethan Burkhardt, and Mike Sumner).
